Good afternoon,
I’m an Australian/Dutch designer currently based between New York City and France (currently living in New York) building a small luxury clothing brand, and I’m looking for a highly skilled freelance seamstress or tailoring studio in France to help with ongoing made-to-order production.
I came across your work and wanted to reach out to see if you might be open to something like this. I’m working with high-quality fabrics (currently organic Italian silk and organic Turkish cotton jersey) and I’ll be providing both the sewing patterns and studio photos of the finished samples (I don’t have formal tech packs yet).
At this stage, I’m expecting 0–2 garments per month – very small scale to begin with – and I’m looking for someone precise, professional, and highly skilled and confident sewing delicate fabrics like fine silk. I need someone who can review the patterns and sample images, and be ready to produce made-to-order pieces as orders come in.
I would send the fabric and materials as orders come in and the completed garment would be shipped to me for final inspection and delivery to the customer. If you’re comfortable making slight pattern adjustments when needed and picking up on flaws in a pattern, that’s a bonus.
Rates (flexible and willing to negotiate if far from your rates):
– Cotton jersey pieces: €45–90 (very simple, fully lined)
– Silk pieces: €90–280 (eg €90 for a simple skirt, €280 for an evening dress)
I’d love to know:
– Do you have experience working with silk and fine finishing?
– What is your usual availability and turnaround time?
– Where in France are you based?
– Would you be open to doing a paid sample to test fit and finish?
Looking forward to hearing from you! I’m happy to send over photos and full pattern details for review. I’m open to both short-term or long-term collaboration, as long as availability is communicated in advance.
Best regards,
Alexandra
